Business Overview

A staple in Providence since 1989, we serve eclectic, contemporary, award-winning cuisine in a unique and historic loft.

CAV (pronounced CAHV) stands for Cocktails, Antiques, Victuals. An upscale award-winning restaurant and antique art gallery with a sophisticated contemporary menu at night, and an informal bistro menu for lunch. CAV also serves Saturday and Sunday brunch. All art, rugs, pillows, and select chandeliers are for sale. CAV is also available for private parties, showers, business dinners or meetings, weddings, rehearsal dinners, or any special occasion.

The Bar

The historic mahogany bar (the full front bar) at CAV dates back to the nineteenth century. Purchased from Irreplaceable Artifacts in 1990, it came with a provenance, showing this bar was originally from Pete’s Tavern – the oldest Tavern in New York. Guests have enjoyed drinks at this bar for over 150 years. It is said that O’Henry wrote many parts of his famous Gift of the Magi, at Pete’s Tavern, and probably often sat at this historic bar doing so. We invite guests to the CAV bar to relax in the comfortable leather bar seats for cocktails, martinis, or beers and wines. In addition guests may also, if they wish, enjoy a whole meal at the bar.
