After having a fulfilling career in education and starting several businesses, I found myself looking for a new adventure. That’s when I heard about Hope & Main, RI’s first food incubator. I knew that I couldn’t find Rugelah, an iconic Jewish pastry, like my Nana taught me to make as a young teen, so I decided to start a pastry business with Hope & Main’s help.

Several years later, my business was successful enough that I decided to rent my own commercial kitchen at 560 Mineral Spring Ave. in Pawtucket. Today, we make and sell four flavors of rugelah; Raspberry Walnut, Apricot Walnut, Chocolate and Cinnamon as well as PYO (paint your own) cookies and two types of scones.

You can find our products at Clements, Blounts, Johnson’s Roadside Market, Macquads in Jamestown, Coastal Roasters, Tasty’s Bagels in Plainville and Norton, MA , Coffee Exchange, Such A Bagel, Simmons Sacred Cow, and Wards Berry Farm in Sharon, MA. You can also pick up our pastry curb side from our kitchen at 560 Mineral Spring Ave.

Meet Your Seller

I started Just Like Nana’s, which I named after my nana who taught me to cook and bake, after a satisfying career as an elementary school teacher in the Providence school system. My motivation for my decision came from my desire to find something that would challenge me and where I could use my creativity. I knew that I made good rugelah when my friends would be waiting breathlessly for me to arrive with my rugelah at our Jewish holiday celebrations. I had no idea what I was in for but I took lots of courses offered through Hope & Main and the RI SBA etc.

I thoroughly enjoy what I do and I never get tired of people telling me how much they like my rugelah and my other two products; scones and PYO cookies. Also, for the second year, I am mentoring students from the Met ( Metropolitan Regional High School) a High School, where students learn to be “successful in college and life by engaging in the rigorous study of entrepreneurship”.
