Granny Squibb’s iced teas are as “astonishingly delicious”, robust and refreshing as the home-brew Granny Squibb made at her home years ago overlooking Narragansett Bay in Saunderstown, Rhode Island.
Today, our teas are still made with the same few and familiar ingredients. We use all certified USDA organic ingredients. They are certified gluten-free, kosher, and non-GMO. We don’t use preservatives, additives, sodium, artificial flavors or high fructose corn syrup, and our teas are bottled in sustainable glass and aluminum cans. No wonder they taste as if they just came out of Granny’s ice box!

IN THE BEGINNING
Granny said it all began one hot August day in the early 1930’s. My grandparents, Sally and George Squibb, and their two sons were spending the summer in a new house they had built overlooking Narragansett Bay in Saunderstown, Rhode Island. The weather was hotter than ever. Not even the sea breezes could keep them cool. Granny remembered a recipe that had been given to her years earlier by her mother-in-law for COLD tea, still a novelty in those days. She brewed black tea and fresh mint, squeezed juice from lemons, added sugar and quickly chilled it. Granny said it was amazingly refreshing and thirst quenching, but best of all, it was “astonishingly delicious”! She delighted in sharing the recipe, and it spread quickly throughout the community where the home-brew has been a summer tradition enjoyed by generations to this day.
Granny was ahead of her time and eager to try anything new. She believed in living well and taking advantage of the best life has to offer. She encouraged me try everything and to give it my best shot. “Never say never”, she said over and over again. Granny wouldn’t have thought twice about taking on Coke® and Pepsi®, and it’s that spirit of hers which has been the inspiration for founding The Granny Squibb Company.

In 2009, realizing the business opportunity of bringing her Grandmother’s “astonishingly delicious” iced tea to market, Robin Squibb founded The Granny Squibb Company in Providence, Rhode Island. We now have six flavors – three sweetened and the same three flavors unsweetened with more in the works. Our teas are sold in over 250 grocery retailers throughout New England including Whole Foods, Dave’s Marketplaces, and Urban Greens Co-Op.
We are still a small team, but we have big dreams. While we’re very proud to offer our customers iced teas that we think are unmatched in taste and freshness, we are dedicated to doing more. By treating everyone with equal respect, helping others, and protecting our environment, we hope to do our small part in making the world a better place.
