Business Overview

Founded in 1999 by Mark Binder, an award-winning author and storyteller, Light Publications is known for its diverse shelf of craft-published books for families, adults and children of all ages.

"Some authors simply write their books," Mark Binder says. "As both a performing storyteller and a craft publisher, I believe that the completed volume is more than the sum of its parts."

Based in Providence, our books have won, been nominated and been finalists for national and international awards, including: The Audies Audiobook Award for Best Original Work, The IBPA Gold Award for Best Fiction Audiobook, Parents’ Choice Gold for Audio Storytelling, The National Jewish Book Award for Family Literature, the Digital Book Award, Next Generation Indie Book Award, Digital Book World Award and the Ben Franklin Award…

Mark Binder is the Audie Award nominated storytelling author of more than two dozen books and audiobooks. He believes that now, more than ever, “We Need Good Stories.”

For the past twenty years, he has toured the world transmitting joy with books, audio and spoken word stories for diverse audiences of all ages. He has performed in parking lots and basements, in theaters, at festivals, pubs, churches, synagogues, nightclubs and schools around the world.

The WE NEED GOOD STORIES tour includes original and traditional folk tales, “autobiographical lies” and stories from Izzy Abrahmson's Village Life – plus a little bit of music, and a lot of laughter.
